Images of moon

Just I have promised, I'll be uploading pictures from our 4SE telescope! So here's what we saw:

We bought an inexpensive webcam (Logitech Quickcam connect) for $10 to be used in photography, though we also have to remove the IR lens of the camera to be more light sensitive and will capture more sharp images from CMOS.

We tried it outside in front of our house and set up the gadgets, laptop, camera, telescope, UPS, adaptor. As me and my husband are peeking through the eyepiece, we were astonished to what we have seen! The moon craters are so obvious, the shadows, the atmosphere really into it. Our gadgets really complement with each other. =)

Unfortunately, we haven't took a photo of Jupiter
because of our darn tree blocking our view. Maybe
next time! As we go on, we tried everything that is

available at that time with our remote, such as, Pleades, Orion nebula, Betelgeuse, Saturn, Uranus. (some are being blocked by our roof and trees.)

So these are the snap shots of the moon with an hour gap and different side.

I'll be posting more images of what we see.

Enjoy and have a happy weekend!

  1. Wonderful images~ you are very clever!! last year I completed a year long study of Astronomy and loved it. My very favourite planet is Jupiter & we managed to see it really clearly thru the schools telescope. I love your images of the moon so close up.
    Have a lovely week.

  2. It's actually my husband who is teaching me about astronomy and telescopes, and I really love it! We will try to image Jupiter as soon as our skies clear up, it's quite rainy here since a few days ago. Thanks for the comment!
